On this road trip, you'll discover the Midi-Pyrénées region and its villages, classified as the "Most Beautiful Villages in France". The region is renowned for its cultural heritage and natural sites.

You'll start in Carennac, then move on to Loubressac and the famous Château de Castelnau. You'll then continue on to Autoire and Rocamandour, with its cultural and historical heritage.

You will continue your tour via Cardaillac and its medieval history. To finish, you'll visit Capdenac and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.

  • The houses have retained their atypical charm with their carved windows
  • Visit the Romanesque church and its 12th-century tympanum
  • The Château des Doyens, with its historical and artistic memory, and the 11th-century Cluniac priory, has forgotten nothing of the time when it was home to Fénelon.

  • Loubressac is perched on its rocky promontory. Chis town overlooks the Dordogne, Cère and Bave valleys.
  • The medieval town of Loubressac stands on a promontory with the Château de Castelnau, its church, the towers of Saint-Laurent and the roofs of its houses covered in beautiful flat brown tiles.
  • It was in this city that "Quelques messieurs trop tranquilles" was filmed in 1972.

  • Autoire is situated in a valley dominated by the limestone cliffs of the Causse de Gramat, in the hollow of a cirque into which a 30-metre waterfall cascades.
  • You'll discover narrow streets framed by manor houses and beautiful farmhouses with their square dovecotes, exposed beams, corbelled facades, mullioned windows and steep, imaginative brown tiled roofs.

  • Rocamadour is one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France".
  • This emblematic town in the Lot region is crowned by its castle and has several storeys clinging to the cliff that separates the Alzou stream from the Causse de Gramat.
  • It is said of this town that "The houses are on the stream, the churches on the houses, the rocks on the churches, the castle on the rocks."
  • And all around the village, the Causse and the Alzou and Ouysse valleys are full of treasures.

  • Situated just a few kilometres from Figeac, the medieval fortress of Capdenac-le-Haut stretches along a rocky peninsula, overhanging a meander in the River Lot by more than 110 metres.
  • While the village is still marked by its medieval past, it is also one of the fortified towns of the Quercy region, claiming the title of "Uxellodunum", the site of Caesar's last Gallic battle.

  • Saint Cirq Lapopie is a medieval town that was divided in the Middle Ages between several feudal dynasties, including the Lapopie, Gourdon and Cardaillac families.
  • The remains of the town's fortified gates are part of the heritage built between the 13th and 16th centuries, which can be seen around the village.
  • As you wander through the narrow streets of the village, you can still admire the arcades of the woodturners' stalls, a symbol of the economic life of the time.
