Sames is a small commune of 709 inhabitants in south-west France, situated in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, 30 km east of Bayonne and south of Dax.

It lies on the borders of the Basque Country, Béarn and Gascony: the Charnégou region, which stretches along the river Adour.

Take a step back in time as the history of the château unfolds before your eyes: the departure for the Eighth Crusade, the burning of the château by the Spanish in 1523, the friendship between Claire de Gramont and Marguerite de Navarre, the romance between Corisande and Henri de Navarre, the coronation of Henri IV, the visit of Cardinal de Mazarin, and the visit of Napoleon III accompanied by Eugénie de Montijo.
